If you are looking for an experience that is unique, join us on this epic 2 night/3 day 4WD Tag-a-Long Tour to an historic private property that has never been opened to the public before.

Located approximately 140 kilometres north of Tamworth, Bingara (aboriginal for creek) is a small, picturesque town on the banks of the Gwydir River in the new England Region of NSW and was home to the Wirraayaraay aboriginal people.

Our company has exclusive access to "Merinee" an historic third generation cattle and sheep property steeped in history from the time of the early gold and copper discoveries, covering over 10,000 acres.

With 4wd access across the property, we will visit historic goldmines run by Chinese miners in the 1800’s. You can try your luck and pan for gold in the nearby creek!

Explore the remains of a copper mine dating back to 1880 with access to the original mine shaft, battery stamper/crusher and smelter

Take time out for some fishing or a swim in the river and drive to the top of the mountain with sweeping views and sunsets across the New England region

Our base while we are on the property will be a private camp site located next to the picturesque river with a fire pit (weather permitting) drop toilet and access to water. This is self catered tour, so bring your favourite camping foods, all your gear and enjoy the serenity.

Whilst traveling throughout the property keep your eyes out for the amazing array of wildlife such as kangaroos and wallabies, birdlife as well as wild deer, goats and pigs.

Bingara History

Bingara is the nearby town with a population of around 1400 people and a rich history of mining and agriculture and the town itself is well worth a wander with many historic buildings.

In 1827 British explorer Allan Cunningham came to the area and by 1836 a pastoralist by the name of Thomas Hall arrived and established a cattle and sheep leasehold in the area.

Gold was discovered in 1852 bringing prospectors to the area and in the 1880’s copper and diamonds were also discovered causing the rapid development of the area and town. In fact it is one of the few areas in Australia where diamonds have been found and was the largest producer in Australia at one time.

This is tour is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience hidden and untouched Australian history only accessible via 4WD on this private property. Perfect for all the families and all levels of 4WD experience.
