SIMPSON DESERT & OUTBACK

Put this one on your bucket list!! Think 4WD traversing of 1100 sand dunes including conquering the famous Big Red, perfect star lit nights and an end of day campfire with a glass of red.

Tag-along with us on this iconic outback tour, crossing the Simpson Desert in the heart of Australia. We travel through the QLD outback, checking out historic sites of the explorers Burke & Wills along the way, before arriving in Birdsville.

The real 4WD adventure begins as we leave Birdsville QLD and travel west into the Simpson Desert where you we will be totally self-sufficient and "off the grid" for the next 4 to 5 days travelling over some of the 1100 parallel sand dunes, camping at the end of each day in totally secluded locations with plenty of time to stop for sightseeing and photos along the way. We will visit Dalhousie Springs for a swim & chance to wash off some dust in the natural hot springs.

Visiting the ruins of Dalhousie Homestead established in 1872 will allow you to witness and imagine a life in this harsh outback climate before heading into Mt Dare for a chance to restock and refuel along with hot showers and a pub style meal.

From here you can choose to say good-bye & travel on to Alice Springs or south towards Adelaide and home or better still stay with us as we head back to Birdsville via the Madigan Line in the Northern Territory. This part of the adventure travels via the outback station of Old Andado with the original homestead and outbuildings able to be inspected to gain an insight into outback life in the early 1900's.

For the next 4 to 5 days, we then follow the route taken by Dr Cecil Madigan in 1939 with his party of nine, supported by camels, as he crossed the desert as part of a scientific expedition of the area.  You will be amazed at the incredible outback scenery as you travel along one of Australia's most remote desert tracks.
